Following from a surprise return to Vulpiano Records after a 7 year departure with The Awakening earlier in 2020, King Elizabeth is back again in short order with This is Not My Church, traversing a variety of moods and styles through incredible song craft and energy. As always, highlighting a favorite is a challenge, but my vote goes to the sultry grit of “A Mighty Man”. - Vulpoano Records

Some things you have to work at, some things just happen. The predecessor to this album (The Awakening) had taken 7 years and within 3 months of its release I had finished This is Not My Church.

I see it now as The Awakening being a 7 year gap year, and after completion I felt refreshed and ready to get back to where I left off in 2012 with Miami.

The album was always there in my mind and finishing The Awakening seemed to flick a switch in my head that released the creativity to write this album, and it happened with great fluidity and there was never a point where I was at a standstill and even mixing the album felt easier than on previous albums.

The album’s sound has glimpses of early King Elizabeth with some tracks heavier on guitar yet still pushing forward and evolving enough to separate itself from the early work. Lyrically the songs can have different meanings to who ever is listening, it may even ask questions? because of all the chaos this world throws at us, clarity can only be found when we find clarity and truth in ourselves……
